Personnel
 
OLDS is responsible for recruiting, training and supervising staff.  All staff will have a personnel file which includes a signed job description by the employee and supervisor. All Criminal convictions shall be disclosed prior to employment.  All checks are completed by the HR Representative or assigned designee.  Healthcare Registry checks shall also be checked prior to employment to ensure no history. All staff have medical exams to indicate that they are in good health with no Hepatitis B infections.  OLDS will update healthcare registry, driver's license annually to ensure no infractions. Medical Statements:
 
Medical statements for all staff shall include a statement from a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician's assistant that indicates the absence of any indication of active tuberculosis.  All information must be updated annually.
This process will be completed by the HR Representative or by a contract provider.
 
  • All direct care staff must have a high school diploma or GED and shall be at least 18 years or age.
  • All direct care staff must have the ability to effectively communicate with the client for whom they are responsible.
  • All direct care staff must be capable of providing direct assistance required by consumers for whom they are responsible
 
All prospective employees must submit a medical statement from a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician's assistant that indicates, at a minimum, the absence of any indication of active tuberculosis or any other communicable disease and any other condition that would pose a threat to the well being of the person supported.  The statement shall also include that the prospective employee is in good physical and mental health. 
 
Annual Employee Checks
  • A health care registry check will be completed annually on all staff. 
  • Driver's License check will be conducted on direct care staff that provides transportation
  • Vehicle and Emission Inspection must be submitted annual  (if applicable)
  • All direct care staff who provide transportation must submit proof of insurance every six months
Criminal Background Checks:
  • A state and National criminal history check will be conducted on all prospective employees who have been a resident of North Carolina for less then five years.
  • National criminal history record checks shall include a check of the prospective employee fingerprints.
  • Prospective employees who have resided in North Carolina for five years or more must have a State criminal history check.
